How to manually update your local host file
« on: April 24, 2016, 12:41 am »
If for any reason you end up with a non-functional host file, here are instructions on how to manually update your host file.

1.) On your browser Help --> Troubleshooting Information --> Profile Folder click Show Folder. This will open a window showing your browser profile.

2.) Click the "extensions" folder to open it, then the "{E4091D66-127C-11DB-903A-DE80D2EFDFE8}" folder to get into IHG's folder. This is the folder where your host file goes. It is likely you have a hostf.xml file, that's the host file, but it may be corrupt or absent.

3.) Manually download the host file using this link. Right click and save link as: to http://hot-honeys.com/hostf.php

4.) Either save it in the folder you opened above or move/copy it to that folder. If you get a warning that you are copying over an existing file just say yes you want to overwrite it.

5.) To verify you have successfully manually updated your host file, open the Host File Editor and look at the "." entry. If you see a recent date there, e.g. "Thu, 15 Oct 2015 17:50:00 GMT" then you have succeed.
