^ My understanding is that the URL pattern searches for image hoster URLs within the source code of an html page. So the html source code of the page should be the input string (containing line breaks), and the "http"s are usually not placed at the beginning of that string or the start of the lines.

All right, I am going to try again, but we are losing the plot of this thread.

fact 01:

Code: [Select]
^https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/)
does NOT match

Code: [Select]
http://1click.name/?http://imagetwist.com/e9vkntk0r1g0/1_001.jpg.html

Use your favorite regex tool if you want the proof.

fact 02:

Code: [Select]
https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/)
matches

Code: [Select]
http://1click.name/?http://imagetwist.com/e9vkntk0r1g0/1_001.jpg.html

If you put ^https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/) in your url pattern which should be incorrect(antinomic with fact 01). IHG seems to ignore the start of string character ^ and matches the rest of the string like if it was pattern code from fact 02. This is the part that is obscure for me. Basically how does IHG code gets smart, and ignore some characters, what else can be ignored: $?

Strictly speaking IHG should failed and show no pics, if matching the pattern ipso facto.

https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/) is the correct pattern.

Hope this is easier to understand. SD

I agree with your facts.  :)

What I want to say is that if the input string is the HTML source code of a web page as described in the "ImageHost Grabber Host File Editor Manual" (2010-01-09) on page 12, the patterns "^" and "$" are not useful to find the URLs. Perhaps IHG does some preselection of the URLs by extracting all strings that start with "http" and end with quotes.

Anyway, "^" doesn't seem to be useful, so actually it should never be used in the URL pattern.

Ah ok, now i understand.
Unfortunately i do not have the skills to tell why IHG is behaving this way.

In IHG code, Cybormatt included a function named removeAnonymizer that extract the target link nested in the global clickable link (but for Facebook)

So the link http://1click.name/?http://imagetwist.com/e9vkntk0r1g0/1_001.jpg.html is changed as http://imagetwist.com/e9vkntk0r1g0/1_001.jpg.html.

This is why
Code: [Select]
^https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/) matches
Code: [Select]
http://1click.name/?http://imagetwist.com/e9vkntk0r1g0/1_001.jpg.html

Thank you for your always enlightening explanations.

We watch the sky at night and observe a bizarre movement of a spec of light.

You know cosmology, Copernicus, Newton, Einstein, Hubble, and a possible insight in the String Theory.

Thank you, SD

BTW, TunnelBear, good choice!

Erps, looks like imagetwist changed some stuff on their end, and it needs an update:

URL Pattern:

Code: [Select]
^https?:\/\/imagetwist\.com\/[\w]{12}($|\/)
