IMAGE HOST REQUIREMENTS -- BANNED IMAGE HOSTS
« on: October 04, 2016, 12:15 am »
We had hoped we wouldn't need to start banning image hosts for some time but that inevitable day has arrived. Bad image hosts either annoy the hell out of you or can download malware onto your computer, or worse. Here is our first version of standards that image hosts must follow in order to be allowed, and we also have our first banned image host.

IMAGE HOST STANDARDS

1.) Hosts must not require more than 2 mouse clicks to display the full sized image.

2.) Hosts using installers, trojans, redirectors, fake virus warnings or other types of malware are not allowed.

3.) Hosts are not allowed to pop up any "User Name:" "Password"" dialog, such as for deceptive reasons.

4.) Ads using background sound are not allowed. Advertising must be completely silent.

5.) Hosts are not allowed to show deceptive material such as pretending to be coming from Microsoft.

6.) Excessively long count-down timers are not allowed.

BANNED IMAGE HOSTS

Code: [Select]
1. ironimg.net
2. pixsense.net
3. imgclick.net
4. imgdrive.net

Image hosts may be un-banned if they adjust their settings and advertising to meet the standards outlined above.

Ironimg.net was banned for user/password pop-up, deceptively trying to make it appear that the popup was from Microsoft, pretending it detected a virus and would remove it for you, presence of audio, and I never was able to get to actual image because I became concerned about possible malware infection.

Pixsense.net was banned for fake "virus has been detected" message plus background audio (sound) present.

imgclick.net was banned for too many clicks to get to the full size image.
